Foundation Piecing is the art of sewing together fabric pieces on a paper pattern (foundation) in a certain order to create the layers of your piece using a sewing machine. Once you have learned the technique it can lead to precision piecing and points. Lots more blocks, patterns and shapes including the very popular Mariners compass are all foundation pieced. Adding this technique to your library of skills will give you the confidence to take you from beginner to intermediate quilter.
